I am very disappointed with some of the last issues of Reminisce. When I

first subscribed to the magazine, I was delighted in a magazine without

advertising. Wonderful articles as well as the pictures included. Well, I guess that delight no longer exists with your magazine. Good thing for you that I just renewed my subscription, but unless there is a big improvement, I will no longer subscribe. Too bad; so sad...............

Reminisce was looked upon as a fun magazine , as well as being educational about the lives and events of our forefathers. What fun to 'Reminisce' and learn types of things our parents had in their generation. I think the 'nowadays' advertisements ruin the nature of your magazine. If people are that concerned about finding digital hearing aids, shoes, electric appliances, modern tools- I could go on and on- they have the convenience of telephones and computers to find the information they need. Reminisce was supposed to just show things of our past. If you are going to continue with advertising, why don't you just start another magazine- ha- you could name it something to do with nowadays. Please do away with the ads so Reminisce Magazine can still be enjoyed by the people that lived in the past generation(s).

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Preferred solution: make the necessary magazine improvement.

Dear Customer, I'm Mary-Liz Shaw, the senior editor for Reminisce. I'm sorry you feel that way about the magazine; we do try very hard to make it relevant and entertaining, and 90 percent of it is written by our readers.

The magazine has had advertising for at least eight years now, because it is a business reality that subscribers can't support the cost of publishing a print product. Paper prices have risen astronomically, well outpacing inflation, in those years. And the other costs of publishing a print product, from inks to printing to shipping and mailing have continued to rise, which make putting out the magazine a difficult venture. Add to this the ever greater demands of the marketplace to drop the price of subscriptions to well below costs ($10 or less), and the pressures on our product can be daunting.

Many magazines have chosen not to continue as print products, and instead publish online only. But we remain devoted to print because we believe that is in the best interests of our readers. The editor, Linda Kast, and I have no control over which ads go into Reminisce, but we continue to do our best to present reader-written content in a way that will fascinate and engage readers, and encourage them to remember their own happy times.

Perhaps certain ads may not always appeal to us as readers, but we can always page through the content we don't like to the content that we doโ€”in the same way that a TV viewer can go get a snack during a commercial. I thank you for taking the time to send us your opinion.
